Five reasons why Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie will never become senior working royals

As King Charles and Princess Kate take time off from their royal engagements due to their respective surgical procedures, and with Prince William on childcare duty, many royal watchers have speculated whether any lesser-known members of the family will be called on to help out.... Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, the daughters of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, are two royals that have been considered by some, even though they are not working members of the Firm. The sisters may be invited along to events such as the Coronation as members of the family, and are occasionally asked to undertake some less formal duties but they do not have full-time royal obligations and instead have their own jobs. With Counsellors of State such as Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Prince Edward available to act on the monarch's behalf if he is incapacitated, it ultimately seems unlikely that the York sisters will ever become proper working royals. Here Express.co.uk examines the five reasons why this will not happen, despite Beatrice and Eugenie's popularity and experience in the public eye. They have never been working royals before The sisters have been in close proximity to royal duties all their life, but they have never had roles as working Firm members and instead only appear at the most high-profile events. For King Charles's Coronation last year Beatrice and a heavily pregnant Eugenie attended an outdoor lunch party in Chalfont St Giles but these outings are few and far-between. Their appearance was fairly relaxed and low-key as they chatted to locals and enjoyed some food and drink, but in their real life the sisters have their own jobs meaning they would have little time in their schedule for more royal duties. Beatrice is the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at the technology firm Afiniti, whereas Eugenie is the director of the art gallery Hauser & Wirth. Prince Andrew drama Unfortunately for Beatrice and Eugenie, as the daughters of Prince Andrew their names are associated with the scandal of him being forced to step down as a working royal. The Duke of York's ties with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and allegations of sexual assault made against him - which he has vehemently and repeatedly denied - led to him being stripped of his military titles and patronages and losing his status as a working member of the family. In spite of all this Andrew, Beatrice and Eugenie retain their places in the line of succession, as do Prince Harry, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet who are estranged from the royals in California. Their children Aside from their jobs, Beatrice and Eugenie have young families of their own and caring for their children no doubt takes up much of their time. Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, who married in October 2018, have two sons together - August, born February 2021 and Ernest, who arrived in May last year. Beatrice tied the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July 2020 and welcomed their daughter Sienna in September 2021, with the young age of the cousins making caring for them a full-time job in itself. They have their own charity work As working royals the York sisters would be expected to take up a number of royal patronages and carry out certain charitable engagements, work which they already do in their real life and which is not funded by the Privy Purse. Eugenie is involved in organisations close to her heart, including Scoliosis Association UK (a condition she suffered from as a child), Teenage Cancer Trust, the Blue Marine Foundation and the Anti-Slavery Collective, which she launched alongside her friend Julia de Boinville in 2017. Beatrice meanwhile ran the London Marathon in 2010 to raise money for Children in Crisis and later founded her own charity Big Change in order to encourage young people to develop skills "outside a traditional academic curriculum".
